It is known that most of the production of Apple products are held in China and Apple was planning to move and diversify its production around the world but after the pandemic has hit the plans were quickly turned into implementation and now some part of the AirPods production was moved to Vietnam, reported by MacRumors.

Asian Nikkie Review reported about the shift in production from China to Vietnam earlier and now some of the users on MacRumors forums have said that they received AirPods that has "Assembled In Vietnam" labeled on the charging case, however, this is just a start of the shifting process.

That's why only 30% of AirPods production was moved from China to Vietnam and the new AirPods Pro will still be produced in China. When coronavirus first broke out in Wuhan, China, the majority of Apple's production was halted which led to reduced earnings in the first quarter of 2020.

So, Apple and other companies don't want to take a risk by relying on just one country for their production. A supply chain executive told Nikkei that "it's still an irreversible trend that big U.S. tech companies will need to gradually seek production bases outside China, most of the U.S. companies including Apple are looking for non-China production. ... Some prefer Vietnam and some like Thailand, some in India, and some in the Americas, and others Southeast Asian nations.

We will see swift in production out of China in the future not just from Apple but also from other major U.S companies or any other company in the world for that matter. Apple may also produce iPhones in Vietnam soon, along with this it was also reported that Apple's over-ear headphones "AirPods Studio" will partly be produced in Vietnam.
