Coronavirus has kept on affecting the tech world and now Samsung is the new company that was affected by the latest virus outbreak which was now officially named as Covid-19 by WHO(World Health Organization), recently GSMA has announced that they're not going to conduct Mobile World Congress this year due to the fears of coronavirus spread at the event.
Apple seems to like to be the most affected company due to the outbreak because of having it's main production outlet in China, even though the facility was miles away from the main outbreak city Wuhan, the temporary slowdown of the production of iPhones and other Apple products seemed inevitable, Samsung confirmed a case in their production factory in South Korea.
Reuters reported the news, a mobile device factory of Samsung situated in the city of Gumi, South Korea witnessed a coronavirus case, an employee was affected by the coronavirus, after the case seen the light, Samsung has shut down the floor that the infected employee was working in temporarily until 25th February, while the facility was shut down only until Monday.
Samsung said,
"The company has placed colleagues who came in contact with the infected employee in self-quarantine and taken steps to have them tested for possible infection."
The city of Gumi was located near the main virus outbreak center in South Korea, a Church in the city of Daegu, Samsung says that its other manufacturing facilities in South Korea were not affected because of this coronavirus case or because of the outbreak of coronavirus in South Korea.
So far reported coronavirus virus cases in South Korea have reached 830 at the time of publishing this article, although South Korea is the home country of Samsung most of its production is based in Vietnamese and India, their manufacturing facilities in South Korea only make products that will only be sold in South Korea.
So, Samsung won't be affected much if any further shutdowns occur in South Korea due to the outbreak of coronavirus in the country, reported cases of coronavirus in India are low, which is one of the company's main production bases, so its production going on in India will not be affected due the outbreak.
