Some Google Pixel 4 XL users are reporting on Google forums and on Reddit that their Pixel 4 XL's glass back is peeling off, according to the users' posts, the glass back usually starts to peel off from the left button corner and gradually worsens, hardware problems in Pixel devices are not uncommon some of the previous Pixel phones have also faced some hardware related issues.

One of the Redditors who claims to be the General Manager of a uBreakiFix store says that this problem may be caused by the bloating of the Pixel 4 XL's battery, he says that a faulty connector inside the Pixel 4 XL device may be causing the battery to expand thus resulting in the glass back peeling off.

Google has responded to the issue and said that it will replace Pixel 4 XL devices that are affected by the issue and are still under warranty, but Android Police says that this may not fully solve the problem, "that doesn't necessarily solve things, since the refurbished phones sent out can also experience this problem."

Google also refused that this problem is caused by a bloated battery, on Reddit Google commented that "We’ve investigated the issue and concluded that this is not related to the Pixel battery. If you’re experiencing back glass lift on your Pixel 4/4XL, we recommend reaching out to 1:1 support to explore warranty options. We’re here to help and want to make sure your Pixel 4/4XL is operating properly."
