Top Five brands in Global Smartphone sales are Samsung, Huawei, Apple, Xiaomi, Oppo.
Global Smartphone Market reports have came in for Q4 2019 and Calendar Year 2019, and according the Counterpoint research Samsung continues it's streak to have the highest market share in smartphone sales. For the second time in a row smartphone market has declined, global smartphone market has declined 1% in 2019, but compared to the decline in 2018(4%) and 3% increase in Q4 2019, we can see an increase in global smartphone market in 2020.
Huawei overtook Apple to become the second best smartphone selling company, but Apple's phone sales have surged in Q4 which helped it to lead the smartphone market share in Q4 2019. Apple's iPhone shipments raised 11% in Q4 2019. Surprisingly Huawei has second highest market share in smartphone sales in 2019 surpassing Apple, Due to sanctions and allegations of bad privacy practices by the company, Huawei's presence in US smartphone market is hindered.
But the sales of it's smartphones in China helped Huawei to climb up to the second spot in global smartphone market, China accounted for 60% of Huawei's total smartphone sales. Thanks to the sales of iPhone 11 series, Apple first time in two years reached the top spot in Global Smartphone Market in Q4 2019, CounterPoint notes that iPhone revenues were up year-on-year for the first time since September 2018.
Realme the sub-brand of Oppo, has seen a massive 453% YoY growth in it's smartphone sales from last year and a 163% YoY growth in Q4 2019, Xiaomi has no increase in it's market share in 2019 but had a 28% YoY growth in Q4. Samsung only has 1% YoY growth in 2019 and Q4 2019.
Top brands in first five places Combinedly holds 66% of the whole market, an increase of 1% from last year(65%). 5G enabled smartphones only managed to capture 1% of Global smartphone sales, but are expected to capture 18% of Global Smart Phone sales in 2020, Samsung sold over 6.5 million 5G smart phones in 2019.
