Sonos is established in 2002 that manufactures Audio sound speakers for your home to connect your speakers and play the music or other audio wherever you are in the house, Sonos not only make audio systems and leave them be for you to use them until they reach their lifetime but Sonos audio systems are digital and update to the current trends and technological improvements with the help of software updates.

Sonos in their official blog announced that starting from May of this year some of the old products from the company will no longer receive the software updates to keep them updated with the current ever changing new tech features.

The reason for this decision is explained by the company and it is because Sonos always tried to keep their products up-to-date with the ongoing Technical improvements like streaming services, voice assistants, wireless networking and Bluetooth capabilities with the help of software updates.

But now Sonos notes that  they’ve "now come to a point where some of the oldest products have been stretched to their technical limits in terms of memory and processing power."  This is the reason why Sonos is stopping the support of software updates to their old Products.

Which products that will stop receiving updates?

Sonos Original Zone Players
Connect
Connect:Amp (launched in 2006; includes versions sold until 2015)
first-generation Play:5 (launched 2009)
CR200 (launched 2009)
Bridge (launched 2007)
Sonos is calling these products as Legacy  Products.

What you should do now?

Since these legacy Sonos products will not receive any updates from this May, Sonos offers you two options to follow, firstly the simple option is that you can keep using the old Legacy products from Sonos being aware that these products will no longer receive any soft ware updates.

There is also a second option which you should probably consider unless you're fine with no new features in your Sonos speaker. The option is that you can replace your old Sonos speaker with a new one with a 30% credit for each of your replacement, you can check in the System tab in your sonos.com account to clarify whether the Sonos product your're using is eligible for replacement.
If you choose to participate in the trade up program, your legacy products will be put in Recycle Mode, a state that deletes personally identifiable information and prepares these products for e-recycling. Recycle Mode also protects unsuspecting people from buying legacy products that are approaching the end of their useful life and won’t provide the Sonos experience customers expect today. Recycle Mode will only apply to the legacy products listed above."
Sonos notes that It's products lasts long and the customers use their products for a long time and states that 92% of their shipped products are still in use today which is quite a feet to achieve.
