Security flaws are usual in Browsers or Operating systems but recent flaw found in Firefox was so critical that Department of Homeland Security themselves has advised the users of Firefox to update their browsers immediately.

Mozilla has admitted the flaw and released new update for Firefox browsers, Mozilla says that the flaw that was found was critical and described the flaw as "Incorrect alias information in IonMonkey JIT compiler for setting array elements could lead to a type confusion" and said that they are aware of the "targeted attacks in the wild abusing this flaw."

In a statement provided to Engadget, a spokesperson of Firefox has said
"on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, Chinese security firm Qihoo 360 reported a vulnerability that was used as part of targeted attacks on a local network. We started shipping Firefox updates to address this security vulnerability the next morning."
Mozilla last year in the same month of June has fixed two similar zero day exploits in a span of a week, after that this is the new flaw that Mozilla has fixed in it's Firefox browser. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) in the official website of Homeland Security has noted that someone can use the vulnerability of the browser to take control of the system, and also said that the vulnerability was detected in exploits in the wild.

The vulnerability was fixed by Mozilla in the newly released versions of Firefox 72.0.1 and ESR 68.4.1, you can download the latest version of your Firefox browser if you didn't have already by going to the 'About Firefox' section of your Firefox browser from the menu.

9to5mac in the same article covering the same news has revealed an interesting fact that no matter what browser you use in your iPhone Apple's own browser Safari is just under the hood, so this vulnerability won't affect your iPhone so you can rest assure if you're using Firefox on your iPhone but you have to update it on your Mac.
