Google's nearby sharing is similar to Apple'Airdrop which will help you to share files and links to other devices but 9to5Google reports that Google has wider plans when it comes to its own version of Airdrop, Nearby Sharing which Google sometimes refers to as "Fast share" is currently works in Android devices but it was also coming to PCs, Macs, and Chromebooks soon.

As Dinsan Francis wrote on Chrome Story, he found that the option "Nearby Share" is shown in Chromebook settings meaning that Google is working on enabling this feature in Chrome OS first, however, this is a work-in-progress and was not available for all users, this feature can be activated in Chrome browser through flags.

But once the flags are enabled in Chrome OS, it just shows as the feature is still in work-in-progress. But the description in the flags shows that the feature is coming to various other platforms like Windows, Mac Os, Linux, and Chrome OS. The description reads "Enables Nearby Sharing functionality. Android already has a native implementation."

But the question is how Google will use Chrome as a tool to make Nearby Sharing work in these other platforms, we won't be able to find it until the feature is released, however in Android devices, a notification will show up whenever someone tries to share files with you.
