Besides making Smartphones and other electronic devices, Samsung is known for making world-class Displays, mainly for Smartphones, so much so that Many popular companies use Samsung displays on their mobile phones. Recently Samsung has filed a trademark for the name Samsung PIFF, a smartphone display technology.

Samsung already released its 2020 flagship line up last month at the unpacked event but Samsung is yet to release Samsung Galaxy S20 note, we may see this display technology in Galaxy S20 note, or else its also possible that Samsung will use this technology for a futuristic phone that it was currently working on.

Like folding phones or a pull-out smartphone that Samsung showcased for limited attendees at CES 2020, either way, we're likely going to witness this display technology on a Samsung device. Samsung filed the trademark of its new display technology at the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

The trademark file didn't reveal much information about the display technology, it only described it as a "display for smartphones," the trademark was filed on March 6, the technology was currency named as "Samsung PIFF" on the trademark file. The trademark filed by Samsung was also included in the WIPO's Global Brand Database.

Samsung is going at a fast pace in making folding phones, last year they boldly launched Samsung Fold which seemed like the only relevant folding device in 2019 where folding devices has just started to surface in the smartphone market, this year they launched another folding phone with a clamshell design which also seemed successful. We may also see a rollable phone from Samsung.

TCL introduced a tri-fold and a rollable smartphone earlier this month, which we may possibly see from Samsung too, we've also seen the rollable screen used in TVs, LG experimented with this technology. We can experience this trademarked display technology this year if Samsung uses it in a Samsung galaxy note device, or else we may experience it next year through a Samsung folding device.

Here is the Trademark file that was filed by Samsung.
