Facebook started testing Off-Facebook activity in last year August.
Many people may not be be aware but Facebook will track your online activity even if you are not actively using Facebook, For Example you searched for a product on a website or on online and the next time you open Facebook an Ad pops up showing you the same product you just searched online.
Facebook calls this as Off-Facebook Activity, where Facebook collects your activity from websites which you used your Facebook account to log in, These websites send your activity on their sites back to Facebook. Facebook uses this data to show you Ads based on your interests and this will help businesses and websites to reach their particular audiences.
However Facebook won't receive sensitive data like your Health condition or your Financial information from these websites or Apps, and from now Facebook will let you control which of these data Facebook can collect, you can see the list of apps and websites who are sending your activity to Facebook and can also see what information that they are sending to Facebook.
You can manage you activity and can also clear you activity history, which will stop personalized apps until Facebook receives new data about your online activity from these websites, you can clear your activity history in two clicks, time to time to completely stop personalized Ads to show up in your feed
You can turn off your future activity of each app or website individually to minimize the tracking of your online activity by Facebook, Off-Facebook activity is now available for all the users on Facebook, Facebook started rolling out this feature from last year August, users in Ireland, South Korea and Spain are the first to control their Off-Facebook activity.
You can manage your Off-Facebook activity Here, if you want to further control the Ads that you see in your Facebook feed you can review your Facebook Ad settings. You can also know why you're seeing an Ad in Facebook by clicking "Why am I seeing this ad?"
