New York Times will no longer publish their articles on Apple New, New York Times itself has announced this on their website and said that Apple gave them little control over the business and how they want to reach the audience, the Times says that it can't reach the goal of getting more subscribers by publishing in Apple News, reported by 9to5 Mac.

Last year Apple started the new Apple News+ subscription service where users can pay a monthly subscription fee and access popular news publication the US and around the world instead of paying for each individual publication and many publications including NYT have published on Apple News, however, NYT has refused to be part of the Apple News+ subscription.

Starting from June 29th, the New York Times will exit from the current partnership with Apple, NYT said that their articles will no longer appear on Apple Newsfeed, NYT emphasizes that it is the first major news publication to move away from Apple News, "The Times, which has made adding new subscribers a key business goal, said that Apple had given it little in the way of direct relationships with readers and little control over the business," Times articles read.

NYT’s COO Meredith Kopit Levien wrote in a memo to employees that "Core to a healthy model between The Times and the platforms is a direct path for sending those readers back into our environments, where we control the presentation of our report, the relationships with our readers, and the nature of our business rules, our relationship with Apple News does not fit within these parameters.”

NYT said that Apple has 125 million readers but their advertising monetization is weak and highlighted Apple's 30% share in the subscriptions purchased through Apple News. On their part, Apple Spokesperson said that "The Times only offered Apple News a few stories a day, we are also committed to supporting quality journalism through the proven business models of advertising, subscriptions, and commerce."

However, the New York Times will continue to work with Apple on other platforms like apps, podcasts, and hardware, said the New York Times COO, Ms. Levien.
