Finding problems in a Windows 10 update is not a new thing or a surprise, almost every major or monthly Windows 10 updates from Microsoft has a few bugs in them, this is one of the reasons why some users hesitate to update their computers to the latest version of Windows, one of the updates included in latest Patch Tuesday has a severe bug that can delete or hide some of your files.
Forbes reports that the KB4524244 security update included in February's Patch Tuesday can lead to crashes and freezes in every version of Windows 10, from Home to enterprise. Microsoft has pulled down this update but it may be a little late to do so because many users may have already downloaded and updated their systems.
Well if you're one of the users who downloaded the latest security patch already, you can simply uninstall the update by following these simple steps:
- Go to Windows Settings
- Click on the 'Update and Security' section
- Then click on 'View update history'
- At the very top, you can see the 'Uninstall Updates' option
- Choose the (KB4524244) update from the list and uninstall the update
- Restart your device
According to Bleeping Computer, Intel, AMD and mostly HP computers are affected by the KB4524244 security update, Microsoft says that they're “working on an improved version of this update," and recommends affected users to uninstall the update, but the story doesn't end here there's another security update that also has a bug in it.
Forbes wrote,
"Also beware KB4532693. Another security fix recently released by Microsoft, Windows Latest notes it is also causing boot failures for a number of users as well as Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) crashes. Microsoft has so far only acknowledges minor issues connected to Windows Server on the KB4532693 update page, it is still floating around unlike KB4524244. Be sure to checkout the Windows Update troubleshooter linked below, it will also you to proactively block this update for now."
On the Windows 10 Health Dashboard, Microsoft wrote: "This standalone security update has been removed and will not [be] re-offered from Windows Update, Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) or Microsoft Update Catalog."
