TCL announced on Twitter that it will stop making BlackBerry phones from August 31, 2020. TCL started making Blackberry phones in 2016 after BlackBerry decided to stop making their phones on their own, Black Berry gave license to TCL to make BlackBerry phones on their behalf.

TCL made KEY series BlackBerry phones, they manufactured BlackBerry KEYone, motion, KEY2 and KEY2 LE during these four years. TCL in the tweet said that it no longer has "rights to design, manufacture or sell any new BlackBerry mobile devices." However TCL will continue to provide customer service and warranty service to already available BlackBerry phones.

The continuation of support for current devices in the form of customer and warranty service will last until August 31, 2020 or for "as long as required by local laws where the mobile device was purchased." TCL says that
"For those of us at TCL communication who were blessed enough to work on Blackberry mobile, we want to thank all our partners, customers and the Blackberry fan community for their support over these past few years. we are grateful to have had the opportunity to meet so many fans from all over the world during our world tour stops. The future is bright for both TCL communication and BlackBerry limited."

Beside making BlackBerry phone TCL started manufacturing other brand's phones like  Palm and Alcatel and recently started working on their own phone. The success of BlackBerry phones kept deteriorating year by year with the raise of new smartphones brands making phones with latest features.

BlackBerry can still make BlackBerry phones or license others to manufacture the BlackBerry phones but it's less likely to happen, BlackBerry is no longer just a smartphone manufacturing company, so it's not like BlackBerry can't survive without making BlackBerry phones.
