Google is giving a new look to Google Maps, Google maps completed 15 years. Google Maps is a successful maps app, probably the best in the market, many users tend towards Google Maps if they need to find a route to the place they need to visit, not just helping users with finding routes, Google Maps has many other features.

Google maps will show you the traffic density, photos and videos of places and ratings and reviews and also street view. All these and many other feature in Google Maps make it a successful maps app in the market, most iPhone users also use Google Maps even though they have an alternative in Apple Maps.

On the completion of 15 years of Google Maps, Google changed the look slightly and gave a new logo to the app, Google added new features to the Maps which you can find if you update your app now through Play Store or App Store. New features includes added tabs at the bottom and new navigation.

Bottom tabs include,
Explore: It's the tab where you can find and search for places you'd like to visit, see ratings, photos and videos of the place.
Commute: In Commute tab you can find quick routes and see how the traffic is in your way, if you setup a daily commute like from your home to work, you will get daily real time traffic updates.
Saved:  Here you will find all the places you saved in the Google Maps.
Contribute: you can share reviews of the places you've visited here, upload photos or videos, add missing places, give details about roads and addresses in this tab.
Updates: Updates tab is a feed of trending, must-see places, you can also directly chat with businesses to get questions answered.

Google also added new transit features where you can find updates about the temperature, crowd and security in public transits, which means people who traveled before you in a public transit, can give information to Google maps about how much crowded is the public transit, whether the temperature in cooler or hotter, whether there are any security facilities like CC cameras are present.

Google Maps uses this information to give you updates so that you can decide to use the public transit or book a taxi straight from Google Maps. While you're on the go you will see a car icon with balloons attached indicating your vehicle, this is a limited time icon celebrating the anniversary.
Last year, we introduced Live View to help you quickly decide which way to go when you start a walking route with Google Maps. By combining Street View’s real-world imagery, machine learning and smartphone sensors, Live View in Google Maps shows you your surroundings with the directions overlaid in augmented reality.
Over the coming months, we’ll be expanding Live View and testing new capabilities, starting with better assistance whenever you’re searching for a place. You’ll be able to quickly see how far away and in which direction a place is
