Facebook joins the list of companies that canceled or re-scheduled their upcoming events due to the outbreak of coronavirus, Reuters reports, Facebook's F8 conference was scheduled to be held on May 5 and 6 in San Jose, California. But growing concerns over coronavirus which led to stockmarket plummet for the sixth straight day has led Facebook to cancel its show.

Facebook's director of platform partnerships, Konstantinos Papamiltiadis, said "a combo of locally hosted events, videos, and live-streamed content," will be held instead of the F8 conference. One of Facebook's spokesperson told Reuters "the company has imposed temporary restrictions on business travel for its employees to mainland China, South Korea, and Italy, where a significant number of cases have been reported."

Earlier this month, Facebook said that it expects the production of Oculus virtual reality headsets will be impacted by the coronavirus. Apple's WWDC event also took place in San Jose for the past few years, the same place Facebook's F8 conference was scheduled to happen, will this lead to the cancellation of WWDC? Most likely not.

As of yet, there are no date announcements or any signs that confirm the happening of Apple's WWDC. Recently the world's largest mobile tech event, Mobile World Congress was canceled following the withdrawals of major tech companies from the show, many upcoming conferences and shows were also facing cancelation or withdrawals from participants.

Travel restrictions around the world were also playing a role in the cancelation of shows, Tech companies are more concerned about their employee's health and restricting them from traveling without any necessary reasons, many shows and conferences that are scheduled to happen in the first half of 2020 may face a similar fate too.
