Even though many carriers are working on 5G continuously, the improvement in the connection is far from done. When a network speed is increased, its mm-wave length will reduce resulting in disturbances in connectivity with the mobile phone, 5G network spots are available in some cities of US, while you receive high speeds when connected, the connection only lasts as long as you stay there, you move away the connection comes back to 4G.

5G network is vulnerable, anything between your phone and 5G tower will disrupt the connection, the same thing happens with super high-speed Wi-fi connections with 5Ghz band but they'll experience fewer disruptions, Qualcomm announced it's new x60 modem Tuesday, they focused on stability more than internet speed with the new x60 modem, that's why we'll only see a slight improvement in up/down speed from its predecessor x55 modem.

Qualcomm's x55 modem offers up to 7 Gbps of download speed and 3 Gbps of upload speed, similar to that, x60 will offer up to 7.5 Gbps of download speed and the same 3 Gbps of upload speed. Qualcomm sticks with low internet speed because stability is more important when it comes to the 5G network, that's why Qualcomm offers better average speeds with its x60 modem.

The new modem was made using 5-nanometer technology which results in lower power consumption, the modem will aggregate different wireless signals to increase the average speed, the modem uses Qualcomm's new third-generation QTM535 mm-wave antenna module which will offer improved mmwave performance and takes less space in smartphones.

In standalone mode, you can see double sub-6 speeds, the modem increase connectivity and coverage area of the network. However, we'll only see this modem in 5G smartphones starting from 2021, recently many smartphone makers are offering 5G phones to the customers, all the smartphones in Samsung's new S20 lineup just released this month have 5G capabilities, this modem, from 2021 will increase the usability of 5G which right now is not quite accessible.
