Microsoft announces increased Windows 10 usage, Windows 10X in single screens, and May 2020 update

Microsoft's chief product officer Panos Panay announced that Windows 10X will be first available in single screen devices in a blog he wrote on Microsoft website, Windows 10X was first made to support the dual-screen and folding devices but now Microsoft was bringing it to Single screen devices first like Tablets, Laptops, and 2-in-1s.

Panos Panay said that they "will continue to look for the right moment, in conjunction with our OEM partners, to bring dual-screen devices to market," Microsoft announced Windows 10X OS, a modified version of Windows 10 for dual-screen devices, along with their new folding devices Surface Neo and Surface Duo but Surface Duo may get released before the announced date.

This means we may get our hands on windows 10X through a new laptop that will release this year, along with the announcement of Windows 10X, Panos Panay on behalf of Microsoft made a couple more announcements, he said that there is increased usage of Windows 10 PCs as people are working from home and organizations are coordinating with their employees' remotely.

He said that Microsoft hit the milestone of 1 billion Windows 10 monthly active users and 4 trillion minutes were spent on Windows 10 a month which is a huge 75% year on year increase, another important announcement that was made is the release of May 2020 update which will start rolling to all Windows 10 PCs from this month.

Panos Panay announced that they will share how they will reduce complexity for developers to build apps and games and programs for Windows 10 later this month at Build which will happen from May 19-21 for which you can register for free now, these are the announcements made by Microsoft.
