New releases of a podcast will be highlighted by a red dot instead of the blue dot of the older version, Google removed the recommendation section in the home page and will instead show the list of episodes of your subscribed podcasts, you can download the episode or add it to the queue right in the home page.

With the new podcasts app, Google has given the option to auto-download the new episodes which is a crucial feature in many podcast apps, 9to5 Google noted that this feature has been active for some users since May of last year, with the new app you will also have the option to choose the podcasts for which you want to get notified for new releases.

The option to choose the notifications will be in the preferences section of the app, Google podcasts have been an average podcast app since the time of its launch but now Google is improving the app, many more features are needed to be available in the app and the users may receive them very soon.
